1961 Corvette Convertible
Roman Red exterior with White coves, Black interior, Black convertible top. 195hp 283ci engine, 4 speed manual transmission. Nothing screams nostalgia like a Red straight axle Corvette! This classic shows well, and has had some light restoration work done to it. Paint on this car is somewhat recent, showing a very nice shine and few flaws. Convertible top is in fair condition, looking to be older with a few very small tears and a cloudy window. Chrome bumpers look to be original, and are showing some patina and other signs of age, but no major issues. Stainless appears to be original as well and is in good condition. Judging by the hardware on the tonneau cover, this car most likely had a hardtop on it when it left the factory, although it is now long gone. Taillights are very nice, with only one having a crack in it. All glass in this car shows correct date codes. Original hubcaps are in good condition, showing some swirl marks and some light wear. Tires are wide whitewall radials, and appear to be nearly brand new with 10/32nds of tread all around. Weatherstripping on this car looks to be newer as well, and is in very good condition. Chrome exterior door handles look to be very nice originals, showing some very light patina but no heavy scratches or any signs of pitting. The interior of this 1961 Corvette Convertible shows good condition original seat covers, fair condition original steering wheel and door panels, good condition newer correct loop carpet, and a very good dash pad. Gauges show some minor fading, but are mostly clear and in good original condition. A vintage Pioneer cassette stereo has been installed, and does not appear to have any cuts to the dash to accommodate it. The engine compartment in this 1961 Corvette Convertible has been extensively detailed, and shows well. Please note that this is not the original engine that came in this car; casting number shows 3849852, with a casting date of March 6, 1964, and an assembly date of March 23, 1964. Judging by this information and the "D" suffix on the stamp pad, we believe this to be a 2 bolt main 283ci engine producing roughly 195hp, which was originally installed in a 1965 Chevrolet car or truck. Generator shows correct casting number for a 1961 Corvette; intake manifold corresponds to a 1965 327/250hp Corvette. A Carter carburetor is present, but does not have a casting tag. Correct air cleaner is in place, as well as a set of higher-horsepower finned aluminum valve covers featuring the "Corvette" script. Ignition shielding is present also, and the frame is rust-free, clean, and solid. This car has TONS of eye appeal, and could be a show car with some work, or can be driven as-is to cruise-ins. Either way, this is a great straight axle, so call us today to put it in your garage! Factory features include AM radio (replaced by cassette deck), 4 speed manual transmission, auxiliary hardtop (missing), two-tone exterior paint.
